Maureen began her career as a litigator with McCarter & English LLP in 2002. There she worked as an Associate in the Financial Services Litigation and Insurance Defense Group. In 2004, Maureen moved to the international law firm of Baker Botts LLP where she became a Senior Associate in the Securities, White Collar and Commercial Litigation Group. In private practice, Maureen represented public and private companies and individuals in multi-million-dollar litigation and was responsible for managing complex financial fraud and corporate governance cases from inception through completion. Maureen has extensive experience handling corporate investigations, white collar criminal defense, corporate compliance and complex civil litigation. She has represented companies and individuals in Justice Department, SEC and Congressional investigations, as well as in government enforcement actions and a range of private litigation matters at the trial and appellate levels.
From 2012 to 2014, Maureen worked as Senior Counsel in the Division of Enforcement and Investigations at the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. There Maureen worked on various investigations and disciplinary proceedings involving registered public accounting firms and persons associated with those firms for noncompliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, the rules of the PCAOB and the SEC, and other laws, rules and professional standards governing audits of public companies, brokers, and dealers.
